WEB James Nathaniel Brown (February 17, 1936 - May 18, 2023) was an American football fullback, civil rights activist, and actor. Known as "Jim Brown," he was an outstanding American professional gridiron football player who led the National Football League (NFL) in rushing for eight of his nine seasons.

Standing at 6'2" and weighing 232 lbs (188 cm, 105 kg), Brown was a formidable force on the field. He played for the Cleveland Browns from 1957 to 1965, earning nine Pro Bowl selections and NFL Most Valuable Player honors in 1957 and 1964.

Beyond the Gridiron

Brown's legacy extends far beyond the gridiron. He became an outspoken advocate for civil rights and social justice. In 1969, he co-founded the Minority Enterprise Development Corporation (MEDC) to support minority-owned businesses.

Brown also pursued a successful acting career, appearing in films such as "The Dirty Dozen" (1967), "Ice Station Zebra" (1968), and "100 Rifles" (1969). He became an accomplished actor and used his platform to raise awareness about social issues.

James Brown will be remembered as a transcendent athlete, fearless activist, and impactful entertainer who left an enduring legacy on American culture.
