Manchester City conquer the world
Guardiola's side become first English team to lift FIFA Club World Cup
Mahrez, Alvarez, Silva and Foden goals secure 4-0 victory over Fluminense
Manchester City have been crowned world champions for the first time after a dominant 4-0 victory over Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup final in Abu Dhabi.
Riyad Mahrez gave City an early lead with a clinical finish from the edge of the area, and Julian Alvarez doubled their advantage shortly after with a shot that deflected off Nino's leg and into the net.
Bernardo Silva made it 3-0 in the second half with a superb strike from outside the box, and Phil Foden wrapped up the victory late on with a close-range finish.
It was a comprehensive victory for City, who were never seriously troubled by Fluminense, and they become the first English team to win the FIFA Club World Cup.
The victory completes a remarkable season for City, who have now won all four major trophies available to them.
Guardiola hailed his team's performance after the match, saying: "We played a fantastic game. We controlled the game from the beginning and we created a lot of chances."
"We are very happy to have won this trophy. It is a special moment for the club and for our fans."
City's victory will give them a huge boost as they head into the second half of the season, where they will be looking to retain their Premier League title and win the Champions League.
